Learn our app

This Guide shows you how to use the basic features of the CountThings from Photos app by counting X's you've drawn on a piece of paper.
For each type of object to be counted, in this case X's, you need to add the right Counting Template to your device.
You only need to select the Counting Template once, before counting multiple photos of the same item type.
Take a sheet of paper and draw some X's on it. It doesn't matter how many or what size they are. You will use the app to count from a photo of the X's.
Step 1 - Adding a Counting Template Tap on the Templates button (on the bottom menu)
Select the X's ID: 074 Counting Template by tapping on the GET button.
After selecting the template, tap on Main (top left) to go to the main screen.

If you only have one template installed, the main screen will look like in the image below:
If you have multiple Counting Templates installed on your device, you will see the "Change Counting Template" button on the main screen.

To change the current Counting template, tap on the "Change Counting Template" button.
In the next screen, tap on the desired Counting Template to set it active.
After choosing the Counting Template, you will be taken to the main screen, where it is set as current.
Step 2 - Capture Image with X's Verify that your selected template is shown on the main screen.

Then tap Take New photo to capture an image of the sheet of paper with X's on it.
Step 3 - Optional: Define Area of Interest Defining an area of interest is optional, but may be useful in some cases, it allows you to count only a portion of the image.

Make sure the "Include" button is selected.
Hold down your finger and drag around the area.
Step 4 - Count X's Tap Count.
Step 5 - Review the Results - Make Modifications if Necessary If you notice any counting mistakes, you can easily correct them by adding, deleting, or moving tags.
